Usually, the temperature of concrete entering the mold or leaving the machine is controlled when building large dams or pouring large volumes continuously. During the curing process, as the heat of hydration is released, the internal strength of the concrete gradually increases.
This phenomenon is not important for small concrete structures, but it is of special significance for dam projects that require pouring a large amount of concrete. During the curing period, the heat of hydration causes the temperature of the concrete to rise by 25°C, resulting in an increase in the volume of the concrete. After curing, the temperature of the concrete drops and the volume decreases. This process usually causes cracks in the dam. Therefore, the initial pouring temperature of the concrete should control the corresponding concrete outlet temperature according to different concrete grades to ensure that the maximum temperature of the concrete during the curing period does not exceed the specified temperature of the design unit.
Although different countries and different construction sites have different requirements for concrete pouring temperatures, ranging from 7°C to a maximum of 30°C. However, each project needs to be equipped with a complete concrete refrigeration system. Among them, adding flake ice is the most effective pre-cooling method. Every 10kg of flake ice can reduce the temperature of one cubic meter of concrete by about 1.2°C to 1.4°C.
Our complete set of automatic ice delivery system can realize functions such as automatic ice storage, metered delivery, and multi-point ice delivery, and can deliver the required ice to the location required by the customer in a timely and quantitative manner. It can also be used together with a chiller to increase efficiency.
SICECOLD containerized ice making plant is designed mainly for concrete cooling projects. It is also applicable for cooling purposes in large scale chemical plants, harbors and artificial sking resorts. It is an integrated system carried by containers, composed flexibly by several ice machines and related control systems, incorporating automatic ice storage bin and ice delivery system. It is an automatic system for ice application.
Why Flake ice for Concrete Cooling

1. Flake ice has the fastest melting time compared to any other ice
2. Flake ice melts quickly and mixing time is minimal
3. Longer life of batch equipment and cost savings due to short mixing time
4. Flake ice is supercooled (-7 degrees) and the cooling energy reaches 100% or even higher
5. Due to dryness, the cooling input of flake ice can be accurately calculated and its effect on the temperature of the mixture is quickly apparent
6. Flakes remain crisp and do not stick together or form lumps
7. Flakes flow freely
8. Easy to store in refrigerated ice cubes
